Buddyboy is the little curly-haired fellow who seems to fit perfectly into the life Kym and I have built around beaches, paddling, sunsets, music, and getting outside whenever possible. He is an apricot mini labradoodle, but around here his actual title is probably closer to assistant trip leader and tiny deck officer.

He has learned the important Florida skills: riding along on the kayak, looking noble on the bow, peeking over my shoulder on the water, inspecting sandbars, accepting sunset admiration, and reminding everyone that every good adventure should include a dog.

At home he has an equally demanding schedule. Buddyboy supervises the couch, tests every chair, keeps an eye on snacks, and appears to believe that any footrest, blanket, or lap is community property. He is funny, sweet, alert, and just serious enough to make his little routines even funnier.
